McGill-Queen’s University Press (MQUP) is one of North America’s leading scholarly presses, publishing 120-140 titles annually, with a backlist of over 4000 titles, including monographs, trade, and education titles in print, digital, and audio formats. The Press has selected BiblioSuite to replace their title management database Trilogy and ONIX solution Consonance, to consolidate MQUP’s operations from product and contact management, ONIX, production, contracts, rights, royalties, sales analytics, and project management in a single system.
Why BiblioSuite?
MQUP needed a turnkey solution to manage all their products—including print, ebooks, and audiobooks—throughout the entire publishing workflow, within a single platform, supporting the academic missions of McGill and Queen’s universities by improving access for scholars, students, and readers worldwide, and unifying teams across its offices in Montreal, Kingston, and Toronto.
The Solution
BiblioSuite will replace multiple systems and spreadsheets with a single publishing management system that will:
Serve as the unified title information database for MQUP’s new ecommerce website, which will be offering direct print and digital book sales to consumers.
Provide digital asset management workflows for ebook files and integration with ebook retailers through automated feeds.
Unify press operations across the publishing process, giving all staff access to shared tools and the resources they need.
Centralize MQUP’s title data and other business information, so that data is entered once and managed centrally—eliminating data re-keying and helping data to flow from one department to the next.
More specifically, BiblioSuite provides a contemporary, user-friendly system that is reliable and instills confidence in staff by delivering capable and effective publishing management workflows, which are responsive and adaptable to their needs and changing requirements over time. Streamlining and automating workflows to:
Store and track peer reviews, which can be monitored and managed via the contact record directly.
Generate reports for peer review requests, events and awards, plus ONIX feeds, to reduce the time spent managing multiple spreadsheets and metadata with distributors.
Bring efficiencies and time-savings to schedule management and other production activities.
Manage customers, authors, suppliers and agents, with the ability to link data, images and assets to people and organizations.
Log and manage permission requests, especially for reporting compliance on third-party rights and collections on incoming permissions.
Save time managing royalties and subrights, giving staff access to all the information they need to control the process—eliminating the need for any third-party involvement
Integrate sales files from different ebook and print book vendors for royalties, sales analysis and reporting, with an option to interface with MQUP’s financial services to upload financial data.
